A note from Dr. JUlia…
My pursuit to become a physical therapist began at 5 years old. I told my mom if I did not start gymnastics right now I would not make it to the Olympics. Spoiler alert: I did not go to the Olympics, but I did compete from childhood through NCAA Division 1 at the University of Pittsburgh.
I have always been amazed at what the body was capable of doing in the sport of gymnastics. What I learned was that behind the beauty of the sport of gymnastics are blood, sweat and tears, as well as broken bones, torn ligaments, muscle strains and concussions. Throughout my gymnastics career, I experienced it all, including a career ending ACL injury. With each injury came months of rehabilitation. I struggled to find a provider who understood my goals and the fact that I spent more time walking on my hands than my feet. This became my biggest inspiration in pursuing a career in physical therapy: to truly understand each person’s individualized goals and what it will take for them to get back to everything they want to do.
Through my experience thus far as a physical therapist I have gained extensive knowledge in the treatment of all orthopedic conditions as well as a variety of neurologic and cardiopulmonary diagnosis.
In my free time you can find me hiking and snowboarding in the Adirondacks.
I look forward to finding what inspires you to move and helping you achieve your goals.
