A note from Dr. SHannon…
If I could choose my career over again, I would do it in a heartbeat.
I knew I wanted to be a healthcare practitioner after suffering various injuries while playing soccer and softball for many years. I have strained, pulled and torn muscles I had no knowledge of, until this career. Through many rehabilitations and sometimes a lot of tears, I found Physical Therapists truly invest in you, listen and maybe help you laugh through it. I chose PT because the little kid in me (going through rehab) wants to help others reach their maximum potential doing things they love, or sometimes loathe, the way others have helped me.
I knew I would never truly be happy unless I was working with people, physically and emotionally through struggles that I have also experienced. I love the fact I get to jump up from a desk and implement evidence based techniques that stimulate the mind and body connection.
Through the years of practicing Physical Therapy, I have met some of my closest friends and my future husband. It takes a village to raise a child, it takes those closest to you to love and support you through ups and downs. My support system pushes me to challenge myself, continue to educate myself and never settle for anything less than exceptional (which is what I will give). I derive happiness from serving others around me. Whether it be relieving pain, teaching proper form or simply giving you my undivided attention.
In my spare time I love to travel with my Fiancé, eat hot dogs at baseball/ football games (activity dogs are better than hamburgers), drink espresso martinis, ski, practice hot yoga and most importantly cuddle my rescue Pitbull Jolene.
I am not an actual cheerleader but I will root for you, advocate for you and strive to help you achieve your goals.
