Hip Pain? Try This Exercise Next Time You Go To The Gym!
Roman Chair
This is a quick video from the end of my workout sent to a patient who was having back and hip pain on the Roman chair. This isn’t a piece of equipment I have in my home or office , so I hopped on to demonstrate.
THE SETUP: Find neutral spine before you step off the sides.
THE MOVEMENT: Press your elbows down into the arm rests to gain support. Avoid gripping the handles, clenching your neck, or looking down.
REMEMBER! Control your legs!! Try to get a smooth motion slowly lowering to full extension. Avoid swinging or letting your legs pass behind your body.
This exercise is hard! A good place to start is with a solid hold for 20-30” before attempting to lift your legs.
