IS IT BAD TO WORK FROM THE COUCH?

The simple answer is NO!

We're not against working from the couch - we are against staying in one posture for 8+ hours a day. MOVE!

If you have the option to carry your laptop over to your favorite chair, kitchen counter, or THE COUCH - do it! Your body likes variety and movement. Spend a couple hours at your desk, and then mix it up throughout your work day.

Here are some simple tips to make your couch desk more ergonomic:

Aim for the recliner position.
→ Find a comfortable posture in sitting and then recline from the hips.

→ Keep your legs supported! Pillows under the thighs or knees can eliminate tension off your hip flexors ultimately decreasing stress on your low back.

→ Place a pillow or towel roll behind tailbone/low back to stop you from sinking into the couch.

→ Rest your laptop on a pillow or folded blanket so that you can look straight rather than down.

→ Use pillow support under elbows and forearms to decrease tension on neck. This is big if you constantly feel upper trap stiffness after using the laptop.

→ Scrunch up a blanket behind your neck. Or grab one of those airplane pillows you haven't been using!
